OASA is a society that holds a programme of 6 lectures a year on a wide spectrum of the visual arts, delivered by experts unparalleled in their field. Past speakers have included Caroline Elam, Paul Hobson, Ross King, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Marlow, Martin Kemp, Bendor Grosevenor, Nick Penny, Jenny Uglow and Semir Zeki. OASA was founded in 1962 as an offshoot of the Oxford Art Society, to provide a regular window on the visual arts for Oxford and its environs. For many years the Society’s president was Dr Jon Whiteley, esteemed Keeper of Western Arts at the Ashmolean Museum, succeeding his former Ashmolean Colleague, the distinguished scholar Christoper Lloyd. Our current President is the acclaimed art historian Professor Martin Kemp.
